Most women would agree that a simple pair of heels can make your outfit remarkable and make you so much more confident. Today, it has become an almost essential part of the wardrobe. However, do heels come at any cost?
If you have ever worn heels during an entire day, you know that it is not an easy task. It is sometimes a true suffering, and all you are waiting for is getting home to get rid of them.
Indeed, feet affect the entire body, therefore, the type of shoes you wear impacts stability and comfort. Being on heels all day will have consequences on your posture and stability; this is why your choice of shoes is very important for your everyday life.
In fact, it has been proven that “up to one third of women suffer from permanent problems as a result of their prolonged wearing of heels” (Kumar, N. V., Prasanna, C., Sundar, V. S., & Venkatesan, A., 2014).

The majority of women wearing heels are concerned with back pain, and this pain intensifies with time. According to an experimental study, out of 100 female participants, 56 had back pain after using heeled shoes for a timed period.
This same study has found that besides the pain on the moment caused by the altering of the natural position of the foot, thus, the reaction effect traveling up to the lumbar vertebrae, women wearing heels in the long-term can compromise the efficiency of muscles and increase injuries’ risk.
So, be careful girls! You wouldn’t want this accessory to have a considerable negative impact on your health.
